Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Accounting Director, Technical Accounting to lead accounting research, policy governance, and the evaluation of significant business transactions across the organization. The role partners with Finance and senior leaders to provide guidance and support on complex accounting matters.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, corporate accounting, or public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement reporting.
• Experience with technical accounting research, accounting policy, and complex transactions.
• Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with M&A, purchase accounting, impairment testing, stock compensation, or other complex accounting areas is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the company's subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and complex accounting matters.
• Research, analyze, and document accounting conclusions for non-routine transactions.
• Lead technical accounting assessments related to acquisitions, divestitures, purchase accounting, and integration activities.
• Evaluate the accounting impact of contracts, business initiatives, and strategic transactions.
• Monitor and implement new accounting standards and reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies while promoting consistency across the organization.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Tax, HR, and operational leaders to provide accounting guidance and support key business decisions.
• Support quarterly and annual financial reporting, including complex disclosures and accounting positions.
• Collaborate with external auditors, valuation specialists, and advisors on technical accounting matters.
• Identify financial reporting and control risks and recommend practical solutions.
