Job description

We’re looking for a Technical Account Manager to own our most strategic relationships end-to-end, from kickoff to renewal.

This is an account management role that expects real engineering depth. When an integration breaks or the data looks wrong, you open the logs yourself.

This role reports to Balance’s Director of Account Management.

Benefits:
  • Mission-driven culture with a strong focus on personal growth.
  • Stock options for all full-time employees.
  • Health, dental, and vision plan options.
Please Note
  • We are not able to provide relocation assistance or work visa sponsorship for this position.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
  • This role requires the ability to work onsite in New York City at least 3 days a week.

Range- 120K-180K

Responsibilities:
  • Own a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts and be accountable for their retention and expansion outcomes.
  • Drive adoption and run QBRs and EBRs with executive stakeholders, using account data to show performance and set strategy.
  • Own renewals, and identify and execute upsell and cross-sell across your book.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for account health — including technical questions about integrations, data and configuration, and the judgment of when to solve it yourself versus bring in Engineering or Solutions Engineering.
  • Lead onboarding and complex implementations, operating like a project manager to align internal teams (Product, Risk, Engineering, Legal, Finance Ops) and external stakeholders toward shared outcomes.
  • Translate customer feedback and pain points into clear input for Product and Engineering.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years in Account Management with a track record managing enterprise B2B accounts.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the presence to run an executive-level business review.
  • Experience leading complex customer implementations or expansions, aligning internal and external teams toward shared outcomes.
  • Deep technical background — you’ve built and shipped software. You can read code, write SQL, trace a failing request through logs, and reproduce an integration bug before escalating it.
  • Uses AI effectively, including in technical work.
  • Proactive and flexible, comfortable navigating fast-paced, early-stage environments and shifting priorities.
  • Highly organized and data-literate — you use metrics to spot trends, communicate performance, and inform.
Nice to Have
  • Background in fintech, credit, underwriting, or lending.
  • Experience in accounts receivable, invoicing, or B2B payments software.
  • Track record of success at an early-stage or high-growth company.
