Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a candidate to evaluate intellectual property disclosures for patentability and market potential, and to develop licensing strategies. Conduct market research to identify potential partners for university technologies and prepare non-confidential summaries for presenting to partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating interns, participating in licensing negotiations, and supporting deal valuation and term sheet preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science field and five years of knowledge and experience in intellectual property, management of processes and training of employees.
• Preferred Master’s degree and/or business and one year in a university technology transfer office evaluating technologies for market potential; ability to understand and perform University intellectual property management processes.
• Ability to work as part of a team and to build relationships with internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate disclosed technology for market potential and license opportunities.
• Prepare technology assessment documents.
• Create non-Confidential one page marketing summaries to promote inventions and articulate novelty and advantages.
• Maintain passive marketing channels such as Flintbox and In-Part.
• Assist licensing manager and director with valuation of licensing deals and preparation of term sheets.
