Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan invites applications for a Technology Support Technician II to provide second-level end-user support, troubleshoot mine technology issues, and assist in hardware maintenance for fleet management and safety systems. The role emphasizes documentation, SOP updates, and knowledge sharing within a collaborative hub environment at our Phoenix headquarters.

The position requires 4–6 years of relevant experience in mining or similar industrial settings, plus appropriate certifications.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in supporting onboard technologies in mining or similar industrial environments and one relevant technical certification.
• Six (6) years of experience in supporting onboard technologies in mining or similar environments.
• Customer service orientation with good organizational skills.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
• Advanced knowledge of technologies and processes in this role.
• Experience mentoring/training team members and owning tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and reliability.
• Effective communication, teamwork and influence skills.
• Self-management, drive for results, flexibility and stress tolerance.
• Process improvement and business acumen awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide second-level end-user support by responding to Help Desk requests and promoting proper use of IT policies.
• Assist in diagnosing and correcting mine technology problems and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
• Support installation and basic maintenance of IT hardware for fleet management, safety systems and network clients.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document all activities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of supported hardware and software.
• Follow procedures for deployments, updates and configurations per standards.
• Create and update technical documentation and SOPs.
• Share knowledge with teammates and help new staff understand procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
