Job summary

Vaco is seeking a hands-on Technical Revenue Accounting Manager in San Francisco for a hybrid role. You will own revenue conclusions, billing, AR close, and controls, balancing GAAP requirements with scalable processes in a fast-growing tech environment.

You will review complex contracts, analyze performance obligations and variable consideration, partner with Sales, Legal, and Finance, and help build a scalable order-to-cash ecosystem supporting rapid growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with revenue close ownership.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue guidance including usage-based arrangements and contract modifications.
• Experience with subscription/usage-based tech revenue models.
• Strong experience across billing, AR, and order-to-cash reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly revenue and AR close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Review customer agreements and apply revenue recognition guidance to complex arrangements.
• Evaluate performance obligations, variable consideration, and standalone selling prices.
• Prepare accounting memoranda, policies, and audit-ready documentation.
• Manage billing and AR operations, invoicing, collections, and billing inquiries.
• Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, Revenue Ops, and Customer Success on non-standard arrangements.
• Support external audits with revenue schedules and contract documentation.
• Improve data flow across CRM, billing, and ERP systems.
