You will enter records, assist researchers, perform shelf reads, manage serials, and coordinate transport of materials while maintaining ITAR compliance and security clearances. The role requires flexibility for extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Two–four years professional experience as a library technician.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Experience with library circulation, catalogs, and MARC records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Track and monitor items circulated in the AFRL Technical Library.
• Enter and update records in library systems daily.
• Enter and edit technical items into the Document Catalog (MARC, etc.).
• Assist users in locating library materials and using catalogs/databases.
• Sort, shelve, and preserve library materials; conduct shelf reads.
• Inspect shelves, remove damaged materials, and report findings to the librarian.
• Create and maintain usage statistics in spreadsheets.
• Locate materials using scanners and online resources.
• Circulate materials following established library policies.
• Register and verify patron identifications before circulation.
• Prepare overdue notices and contact patrons as needed.
• Process new serials; update holdings and records.
• Apply labels, barcodes, and notations to library materials.
• Transport materials between libraries as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
