ICF is seeking a multi-faceted onsite library technician to support the physical processing of a large print collection for the National Library of Medicine. The role is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.

You will identify MARC bibliographic records, search Alma for matches, manage call numbers, housing, and update catalog records in alignment with NLM standards. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential, with eligibility for a public trust clearance.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience executing the physical processing of collection materials.
• 1+ year of library and cataloging experience (MARC21, library services platform, Cutter Sanborn Tables)
• Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Identify MARC bibliographic records based on review of a physical item.
• Search/match 19th and 20th century publications in Alma to find matching bibliographic records.
• Complete the physical processing of the collection materials, including adding call numbers and re-housing fragile items.
• Update existing cataloging records, including bibliographic, holdings, and item records.
• Flag potential duplicate items for review; code duplicates in Alma for review and batch deletion.
• Follow guidelines for materials to ensure records follow NLM policies and standards.
