Job summary

Chime is seeking a senior engineering leader to build and scale lending platforms. You will own the squad's technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive hiring while delivering high-impact features for members across Earned Wage Access, SpotMe, and Instant Loans.

You will partner with Product, Analytics, Design, and Data leaders to shape the technical roadmap, manage a small team directly, and foster a culture of ownership, speed, and quality in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Direct experience in lending, payments, or other regulated financial/transactional systems.
• Experience managing engineers with full people-management ownership for a small team.
• Experience using AI coding tools and workflows to boost team velocity.
• Ability to tie-break technical decisions under delivery pressure.
• Ownership mindset with hands-on leadership and high code quality standards.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Own the squad's technical direction, architecture, and code quality.
• Lead design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning with support from Tech Leads.
• Identify technical debt and promote sustainable engineering practices.
• Provide full people management for 3–5 direct reports, including coaching and performance feedback.
• Drive hiring and staffing for the squad and maintain its health and engagement.
• Mentor product engineers on technical and product growth, modeling ownership.
• Partner with Product and Design on sprint scope and delivery commitments.
