Base pay range

$170,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr

Overview

We’re looking for a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to lead a team of talented engineers while remaining deeply hands-on with our technology. This is a hybrid role for someone who thrives in both code and coaching, and is equally energized by building systems and growing the people who build them.

As a TLM, you’ll own delivery for a key area of our product, guide the technical roadmap, and ensure your team is operating at a high level. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to bring clarity, accountability, and momentum to our most important initiatives. What You’ll Do

  • Lead a Small but Mighty Team: Manage 4-7 engineers, providing mentorship, feedback, and career growth while maintaining high delivery standards.
  • Stay Technical: Architect systems, review code, and contribute directly to features, infrastructure, or tools when it makes sense to unblock the team or accelerate progress.
  • Drive Clarity and Execution: Translate business goals into actionable plans. Lead sprint planning, scope work, and remove obstacles to keep projects moving.
  • Own Technical Direction: Set the bar for quality, scalability, and maintainability. Bring strong opinions about engineering best practices while remaining open to better ideas.
  • Foster Team Health: Create a team culture grounded in trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Support work-life balance while upholding high-impact delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including time as a technical lead or team lead.
  • 1+ years of formal people management experience (or strong mentorship track record with a desire to grow in management).
  • A builder’s mindset: experience delivering high-impact projects end-to-end, with deep ownership of quality and outcomes.
  • Strong technical foundation in modern backend or full-stack development (e.g., Ruby, Go, TypeScript).
  • Excellent communicator: able to drive alignment across engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience fostering inclusive, growth-oriented team environments where people do their best work.
