Job summary

Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) invites applications for a Part-Time Program Assistant & Computer Lab Facilitator in Silver Spring, MD. The role supports after-school programs, oversees the computer lab, and helps students strengthen academic skills through technology-based learning activities.

The ideal candidate is at least 15 with a work permit (if required) and shows interest in youth development. Strong teamwork, reliability, and basic tech skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15 with a valid work permit, if required.
• Interest in working with children and youth in educational/community settings.
• Basic computer and technology skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Reliable and organized; able to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Experience with educational technology platforms is a plus.
• Bilingual English and Spanish/Amharic is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the computer lab to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
• Assist students with educational software, online platforms, and tech-based activities.
• Monitor student engagement, attendance, and progress; report concerns.
• Prepare the computer lab and equipment before student arrival; troubleshoot basic tech issues.
• Provide academic support and help achieve literacy and learning goals.
• Serve as acting lead staff when the Lead Teacher/instructor is absent.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and document work timely.
