Job summary

Montgomery Housing Partnership seeks a part-time Pre/After-School Lead Instructor for the Community Life Program in Silver Spring, MD. You will work under supervision to ensure quality of educational services at MHP housing sites, Monday-Thursday 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm.

Starting rate is $22–$30 per hour. The role requires a Bachelor’s in elementary education or related field, 3 years of elementary classroom experience, and strong communication and collaboration with diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, literacy, or reading.
• Three years of experience with elementary school children.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse communities.
• Flexible and reliable; transportation available.
• Able to supervise classroom personnel.

Responsibilities

• Tutor small groups and create learning goals.
• Evaluate participants’ academic needs and monitor progress.
• Prepare lesson plans and supervise assistants/volunteers.
• Write quarterly reports when necessary.
• Attend field trips and parent meetings.
• Collaborate with staff, students, and volunteers.
