Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) seeks a Pre/After-School Classroom Lead instructor for the Community Life Pre/After-School Program in Montgomery County. This part-time role runs Monday–Thursday from 3:45 pm to 6:00 pm to support elementary students.

Starting at $22/hr, the instructor will tutor small groups, plan lessons, evaluate student progress, supervise volunteers, and collaborate with staff to set learning goals and ensure a safe, engaging environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, literacy, or reading.
• Three years of experience working with elementary school children.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse communities.
• Flexible, reliable, and able to supervise classroom personnel; reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Tutor small groups and create learning goals for each student.
• Evaluate participants’ academic needs and monitor progress.
• Prepare lesson plans for each age group and write quarterly reports as needed.
• Supervise assistants and volunteers and attend parent meetings.
• Meet with staff to discuss student learning goals and classroom concerns.
• Submit time sheets and perform other duties as assigned.

MHP’s community-based projects and programs include providing affordable rents, developing educational programs for residents to develop skills that expand their opportunities and balance their lives, and implementing neighborhood revitalization efforts in troubled communities impacted by foreclosures and economic downturns.Summary Job Description: The Pre/After-School Instructor will work under the supervision of the Community Life Programs Coordinator (Site Coordinator) and the Community Life Programs Supervisor (Site Supervisor) to ensure the success and quality of the educational and human services programs offered at selected MHP’s affordable housing units located in Montgomery County. This part-time position is Monday-Thursday (3:45 pm to 6:00 pm.
