Job summary

Braintrust is seeking a highly technical Technical Analyst / Associate to join our team in a venture investing environment focused on B2B technology, FinTech, and DeepTech. Hands-on software engineering ability is the core qualification, with no requirement for prior venture capital experience.

You will build and maintain proprietary software, support diligence and market research, and help portfolio companies scale. You will work across backend, frontend, APIs, and data integrations.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on programming in Python, JavaScript, and/or PHP.
• Experience developing and maintaining web applications.
• Comfortable working across different parts of the technology stack.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve the firm's proprietary software platform Lighthouse.
• Build and integrate internal tools for data-driven investing, sourcing, and portfolio management.
• Work across backend, frontend, infrastructure, APIs, and data integrations as needed.
• Maintain and improve application reliability, deployments, monitoring, and security.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve internal workflows.
• Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, deployment, and integration issues.
• Review software architecture and technical infrastructure.
• Evaluate APIs, integrations, vendors, and implementation requirements.
• Assess product roadmaps and technical scalability.
• Help evaluate product differentiation and IP.
• Identify technical risks and opportunities.
• Translate technical findings into diligence conclusions.
• Perform market analysis, identify opportunities, and research emerging tech sectors.
• Develop investment materials and analyze market size and fit.
• Support portfolio reporting and future financing discussions.
