Job summary

The City of Dallas seeks a Department Technology Analyst to provide analysis, programming, and testing to support the maintenance of departmental proprietary and process control computer operations and the management and analysis of department databases.

The role involves designing and maintaining databases, evaluating software and hardware needs, developing data extraction programs, and creating reports to communicate system status.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or Technology is required.
• 1 year of experience developing and/or providing end-user training and software/database systems support.
• Equivalencies allow various combinations (diploma plus experience) as listed in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, evaluates, and reviews department program objectives and information requirements; designs and maintains databases.
• Manages software, hardware, and network configurations; identifies weaknesses and devises solutions.
• Plans software/hardware purchases; prepares cost analyses for maintenance and upgrades.
• Writes programs to extract data and develops reports to communicate status.
• Runs programs to analyze data from sensors and sets data parameters.
• Maintains multiple interrelated systems and documents changes; resolves network problems.
• Trains users and technicians in system use and oversees field technicians.
• Produces mathematical models on mainframe systems to answer engineering or business questions.
• Performs other tasks as needed.
