Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Manager, Compensation – Tech to lead compensation design, governance and analytics for GM's Software & Services, Autonomous/AV, Cybersecurity and Data & AI domains.

You will manage a small team (2–4), partner with HRBPs and business leaders to define proactive pay strategies for critical tech roles and premium families, and translate strategies into scalable frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of compensation experience with 3+ years in leadership or advisory roles.
  • Experience supporting technology organizations (software, data/AI, cybersecurity, AV) is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to design and implement tech compensation programs (base, incentives, equity).
  • Strong analytical skills; proficient with Excel, HRIS, and data visualization tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tech compensation strategy and design for GM's Software & Services, AV, and related domains.
  • Translate business and talent needs into compensation frameworks and guidelines.
  • Partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition and leaders to define proactive pay strategies for critical tech roles.
  • Evolve job architecture and leveling aligning with enterprise frameworks and scalability.
  • Own analytics, market intel and cost models to inform hiring, retention, and adjustments.
  • Benchmark and position GM's tech compensation across geographies; ensure equity and competitiveness.
  • Governance, compliance and executive interfaces; contribute to leadership and board reporting.
  • Lead and develop a small team (2–4) of compensation professionals.
