Job summary

DAS Aviation is seeking a Teardown & Evaluation Inspector to disassemble, inspect, and document a range of aircraft components, guiding repairs with precise measurements and engineering collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of related experience, familiarity with OEM data portals, and the ability to work under FAA standards in a shop environment. Strong English communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; aviation/maintenance degree preferred.
  • License or passport is ideal but not required; travel may be needed.
  • 3+ years of component sheet metal, structural, and bonding repair experience.
  • FAA A&P certification beneficial but not required; familiarity with OEM data portals.
  • Experience with Microsoft software and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble and inspect mechanical components to identify damage, wear, or defects.
  • Guide the repair team with technical findings ensuring safety and quality compliance.
  • Use hand, electric, and air-driven tools and read engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate with engineering for documentation of repairs beyond repair data.
  • Insert discrepancies and inspection sheets into work orders; ensure continuity.
  • Perform computer data entry and research ICA data as needed.
  • Operate precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Communicate quality findings with Supervisors during teardown/evaluation.
  • Work in English, verbally and in writing; perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

As a Teardown & Evaluation Inspector, you will play a critical role in our repair and overhaul process. You will carefully disassemble and inspect a wide variety of mechanical components and assemblies to uncover hidden damage, wear, or defects. Your technical findings will directly guide the repair team and ensure compliance with strict safety and quality standards.

You will be essential to many functions including:

  • Extensive use of hand, electric, and air-driven power tools
  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings
  • Teardown and inspection of components for proper assembly
  • Coordination with engineering for documentation of repairs that exceed repair data
  • Ensuring discrepancies, inspection continuity sheets, and other forms are inserted into the work order binder as needed
  • Computer data entry
  • Researching a variety of I.C.A. data
  • Utilizing precision measuring equipment (e.g., electronic ohm meters, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, torque wrenches)
  • Communicating discovered quality occurrences with other Inspectors/Supervisors during the teardown/evaluation process
  • Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management
Requirements/Qualifications
Your Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree in related field (aviation or maintenance mechanic) or equivalent preferred
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not required
Your Experience
  • 3+ years of experience performing component sheet metal structural, metal to metal, and composite bonding repair maintenance and inspections
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification is beneficial but not required
  • Familiarity with Corridor is preferred
  • Experience accessing and navigating a variety of Aviation OEM data portals
  • Prior use of Microsoft computer programs

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments as required
  • Notify supervisor prior to shift start if unable to report to work

  • Perform all work in accordance with FAA regulations, approved technical data, and company procedures
  • Follow all company safety policies and operational requirements

Physical Requirements
  • Lift at least 50 lbs
  • Routine walking, bending, and squatting or sitting for extended periods
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
Mental Requirements
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Working Conditions

The majority of work will be accomplished in a shop environment.
