Job summary

DAS Aviation is seeking a Sheetmetal Technician to support airframe components and structural repairs in a fast-paced shop environment. You will drill, rivet, cut, and fit sheet metal parts, apply sealants, and maintain tools and facilities. Strong blueprint reading and English communication are required.

Experience with forming, drilling, stamping, bending, and dimpling is preferred. A high school diploma is required; A&P license is welcome but not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Airframe and Powerplant license not required but welcome.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing, and dimpling).
  • Able to read blueprints and work from drawings; follow procedures and use fastening systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.
  • Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening, and finish materials.
  • Maintain, clean, and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling as needed.
  • Operate shop equipment like brakes, presses, riveters, shears, and related hand tools.
  • Communicate clearly in English; navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.

What You Can Expect as a Structures Technician

As a Sheetmetal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.
  • Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening, and finish materials.
  • Maintenance, cleaning, and repair of shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements/Qualifications

Your Education: A High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience: Knowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing, and dimpling) is required. Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as a sheet metal technician. Master: 5+ years of experience as a sheet metal technician.

Your Initiative: We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.

Your Sense of Responsibility: Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits. Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day. Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties. Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements
  • Lifts 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, and squatting or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.
Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses. Multiple Departments include: Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelle, and heavy structural repairs, light structures repair on components.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
