The Team & Patient Engagement Specialist plays a key role in fostering a positive, mission-aligned and people-first workplace culture. As the internal champion for team morale and engagement, this role is responsible for promoting the organization’s mission, vision and values internally, while supporting external messaging that reflects the organization’s commitment to its people. This position works closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure consistent and meaningful communication, while leading initiatives that enhance team satisfaction, appreciation and connection across all departments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office and sedentary, requiring extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Ability to exert a light degree of physical effort including carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking and the assisted lifting of objects and materials up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and distance vision. Limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, odors, humidity, temperature and noise extremes, wetness and vibrations. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to reach, bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates effective communication of human resources initiatives and programs while supporting communication that enhances both ream member and patient/family engagement.
- Develops and implements strategies to make the in-person/in-office employee experience compelling and engaging to distinguish it from the at-home working experience.
- Creates and monitors measures of effectiveness, including turnover and employee engagement scores.
- Coordinates new employee or new student onboarding to ensure a smooth welcome into the organization.
- Leads development and implementation of employer brand and employee value proposition to drive recruitment, engagement, and retention.
- Leverages employee engagement tactics and strategies as key drivers of change efforts across the organization.
- Ensures support and coordination of current employee engagement events and activities across the organization.
- Develops and implements programs to engage and connect employees to highlight and amplify the employee culture for both new and existing employees.
- Researches and learns about current trends and best practices in employee engagement to ensure program effectiveness.
- Develops internal publications such as newsletters, releases, email announcements, planned publications, online content, intranet and special projects
- Leads initiatives that uplift morale and strengthen team spirit across the organization.
- Serves as the internal brand ambassador by promoting the organization’s mission, vision, and values to team members.
- Develops and executes creative strategies to boost team engagement, sense of belonging, and workplace satisfaction.
- Collaborates with department leaders to identify and support team engagement opportunities.
- Plans and coordinates all-organization meetings, including logistics, communication, and agenda planning.
- Organizes and manages staff appreciation events, holiday celebrations, and team-building activities.
- Tracks and celebrates team birthdays and work anniversaries with personalized recognition or small gestures of appreciation.
- Assists with milestone recognitions (e.g., promotions, retirements, major accomplishments).
- Partners with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure consistent and engaging internal communication.
- Develops internal campaigns to share news, success stories, and organizational updates with team members.
- Collects and shares feedback with leadership on employee sentiment and cultural trends.
- Works with HR to administer team satisfaction and engagement surveys to identify areas of improvement.
- Track progress on engagement-related goals and report findings with actionable insights.
- Supports marketing the organization’s culture and mission to external audiences through storytelling, visuals, and participation in community-focused efforts.
- Communicates with patients families regarding the model of care, payment procedures, and insurance processes.
- Coordinates and maintains communication with patients and families to facilitate participation in events, activities, and engagement opportunities that support a positive care experience.
- Supports initiatives that strengthen patient and family engagement, helping ensure patients feel welcomed, informed, and connected throughout their experience with the organization.
- Collaborates with the Development, Marketing and Communications team to support and promote fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborates with the marketing team on employer branding content for social media, newsletters and recruiting materials.
- Recognizes the connection between strong team engagement and a positive patient experience, supporting initiatives that strengthen both team culture and patient/family connection to the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree or some college preferred
- 2+ years in employee engagement, marketing, internal communications, or related areas.
- Valid Texas Driver License
- Criminal background check
- Non-DOT drug test
- Acceptable MVR
- MS Office Programs
- Comfortable using communication tools such as Mailchimp, Canva, Slack, etc.
- Experience coordinating events and managing logistics a plus.
