Job summary

The Physical Therapist at Children's Rehabilitation Institute Teleton USA provides therapeutic support for the Pediatric Physical Therapy Coordinator, implementing treatment plans, documenting patient progress, and consulting with the care team to optimize pediatric rehabilitation outcomes.

This role requires standing, lifting up to 100 pounds, and travel for meetings. Texas PT licensure, NBCPT certification, CPR, and bilingual Spanish (preferred) are important for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy.
• Current Texas PT license.
• Registration with the National Board for Certification in Physical Therapy.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Two years pediatric PT experience preferred.
• CPR/Basic Life Support certification.
• Proficiency with EMR and MS Office.

Working Conditions

Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and other dynamic movements throughout the workday. Must be able to safely lift, transfer, and support patients and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. The position also requires sufficient manual dexterity for hands-on therapeutic techniques and the ability to push, pull, or move objects as part of patient care. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and peripheral vision to monitor patient safety, observe movement patterns, and assess equipment. The work environment may include moderate exposure to environmental elements such as noise, odors, bodily fluids, cleaning agents, and varying temperatures typical of clinical and therapy spaces. Use of personal computing equipment, electronic medical records, and standard office/clinical technology is required for documentation and communication. The role may involve occasional travel for meetings, trainings, or other business-related needs. Some after-hours work, including weekends or holidays, may be required based on patient or operational needs

Essential Functions

• Evaluate patients with a variety of deficits in gross motor skills, gait, balance, strength, endurance, and overall functional mobility.
• Perform comprehensive evaluations using standardized assessments, tests and measures clinical observation.
• Prioritize a clinical problem list, formulate family-centered goals, and develop a treatment plan.
• Document evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, daily notes and discharge summaries accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain well-being and safety of the patients during all interventions.
• Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team regarding patient’s progress and potential barriers and provide clinical education related to patients, families, and staff.
• Provide supervision to physical therapy students and assistants and co-sign documentation for staff Physical Therapist Assistants
• Demonstrate effective time management skills.
• Abide by the Physical Therapy Code of Ethics.
• Observe patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
• Perform other duties as delegated, required or requested.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy. Master’s or Doctorate with a specialty in Pediatrics highly desirable
• Physical therapy minimum of 2 years of experience (in pediatric setting preferred)
• Treatment of children with neurologic and musculoskeletal disabilities (minimum of 1 year of experience)
• Instruction and training of physical therapy courses (minimum of 1 year of experience)
• Registration with the National Board for Certification in Physical Therapy
• Current Basic Life Support/ CPR Certification for Health Care Providers
• Valid and current physical therapy license to work in the state of Texas through Executive Council of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE)
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
• Teamwork and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Proficiency in physical therapy techniques and equipment
• MS Office Programs
