Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
2. Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
3. Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
   • Thank the Customer
   • Engage with the customer and/or pet
   • Advise on products or services
   • Make it Memorable
4. Perform a combination of duties such as operating cash register, merchandise recovery, participating in freight process, completing Plan-o-gram procedures, assembling merchandise, performing janitorial duties, executing price changes/markdowns, assisting customers with loading, ensuring the safety of live animals, and completing related documentation.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• No experience required; retail or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Working Conditions

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Work shifts vary, generally no less than 4 hours, potentially exceeding 8 hours.
• Adhere to safety guidelines to promote a safe and productive environment.

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary role requiring movement throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Ability to lift or reach merchandise overhead and move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Constant standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Operate store equipment safely and accurately.
• Complete all training and certification requirements.
