Job summary

CompX National in Mauldin, SC is seeking a Team Member M - Apex Machine Operator on the second shift to start up, adjust, and run the Apex deburring and finishing machine. You will check finished components with calipers and micrometers to ensure smooth edges and correct dimensions.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, keen attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset. Preferred experience in manufacturing or fabrication is a plus; you'll work standing, lifting up to 12 pounds,

Responsibilities

• Start up, adjust, and run Apex deburring and finishing machine.
• Check finished components with calipers and micrometers for correct dimensions.
• Identify surface defects and sort out parts not meeting standards.
• Stand, lift, load and unload parts up to 12 pounds.
• Clean machine, remove dust, and swap worn belts/tools.
• Read prints or work instructions accurately.
• Willing to perform other machining tasks when needed.
• Maintain safe operations by following procedures.

Shift: Second

Shift Premium: $1.50

Position Responsibilities:

• Start up, adjust, and run Apex deburring and finishing machine
• Check finished components using tools like calipers and micrometers to verify smooth edges and correct dimensions
• Identify surface defects and sort out parts that do not meet manufacturing standards
• Standing, lifting, loading and unloading parts up to 12 pounds onto finishing machine
• Clean machine, clear out metal dust or shavings, and swap out worn abrasive belts or tools
• Familiar reading prints and/or work instructions
• Willing to perform other machining jobs when necessary
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Essential Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail
• Safety as a priority mindset

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience working in a fabrication department preferred
