Job summary

CompX National in Mauldin, SC is seeking a Team Member M - Apex Machine Operator on the second shift to operate and deburr the Apex finishing line.

You will read prints, verify parts with calipers, maintain clean, safe operations, and support other machining tasks as needed. Competitive benefits include medical and retirement plans.

Responsibilities

• Start up, adjust, and run Apex deburring and finishing machine.
• Check finished components using calipers and micrometers to verify edges and dimensions.
• Identify surface defects and sort out parts not meeting standards.
• Standing, lifting, loading and unloading parts up to 12 pounds onto finishing machine.
• Clean machine, clear metal dust or shavings, and replace worn belts/tools.
• Familiar reading prints and/or work instructions.
• Willing to perform other machining jobs when necessary.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Shift: Second

Shift Premium: $1.50

Position Responsibilities:

• Start up, adjust, and run Apex deburring and finishing machine
• Check finished components using tools like calipers and micrometers to verify smooth edges and correct dimensions
• Identify surface defects and sort out parts that do not meet manufacturing standards
• Standing, lifting, loading and unloading parts up to 12 pounds onto finishing machine
• Clean machine, clear out metal dust or shavings, and swap out worn abrasive belts or tools
• Familiar reading prints and/or work instructions
• Willing to perform other machining jobs when necessary
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Essential Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail
• Safety as a priority mindset

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience working in a fabrication department preferred
