Job summary

Interstate Batteries is hiring a Warehouse Team Member I in Amarillo, TX. You will perform distribution center tasks using RF barcode scanning devices, various material handling equipment, WMS applications, and other shipping software.

Responsibilities include receiving, picking, packing, shipping, loading, unloading, restocking, and maintaining a safe, orderly warehouse. Qualifications include a high school diploma, strong communication skills, basic computer knowledge, and the ability to learn

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
• No experience required; warehouse operations experience preferred (RF/HH equipment, forklift, pallet jack, stretch-wrap).
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Sense of urgency and well organized.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship).
• Load and unload batteries.
• Restock batteries.
• Charge, clean, date and rewrap rotations.
• Charge, test, clean, and date adjustment batteries.
• Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment.
• Accurately maintain warehouse reporting and claims.
• Operate a forklift and maintain a current certification.
• Tag pallets correctly for transfer, pick, pack, ship.
• Perform general warehousing duties and housekeeping.
• Multitask and transition between tasks as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by warehouse management.

Purpose of Job:

The Warehouse Team Member I has the ability to accurately and efficiently complete assigned distribution center tasks using a variety of equipment including RF barcode scanning devices, material handling equipment - electric and manual pallet jacks, stand‑up and sit‑down forklifts, WMS applications, and other shipping applications.

Job Components:

• Accurately process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• Load and unload batteries
• Restock batteries
• Charge, clean, date and rewrap rotations
• Charge, test, clean, and date adjustment batteries
• Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment
• Accurately maintain warehouse reporting and claims
• Operate a forklift and maintain a current certification
• Properly tag pallets (for transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• General warehousing duties (such as restocking shelves and housekeeping of assigned areas)
• Ability to multi‑task and/or quickly transition from one function/task to the next function/task
• Other warehouse duties as assigned by warehouse distributor management

Qualifications:

• High school graduate
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
• No experience required. Experience in warehouse operations preferred - including RF/HH equipment, forklift, electric pallet jack and stretch‑wrap machine preferably in warehouse environment
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems required
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Sense of urgency and well organized

Scope Data:

• Interacts professionally within the warehouse distributor team

Work Environment:

• Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbs
• Consistent walking or walking during shift
• Repetitive taping of boxes
• Overtime required as deemed necessary
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)required
• Exposed to battery warehouse conditions, such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
