Job summary

Interstate Batteries in San Diego, CA is seeking a Warehouse Team Member I to perform distribution center tasks with RF scanners, pallets, and various handling equipment. You will process receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and maintain accurate records.

No experience is required, but forklift certification and warehouse experience are a plus. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, work overtime as needed, and keep a safe, clean workspace while supporting a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• High school graduate
• Written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
• No experience required; experience in warehouse operations preferred—RF/HH equipment, forklift, electric pallet jack and stretch-wrap machine preferably in warehouse environment
• Working knowledge of computers or ability to learn applicable systems
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Sense of urgency and well organized

Responsibilities

• Accurately process system and manual transactions (receiving, transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• Load and unload batteries
• Restock batteries
• Charge, clean, date and rewrap rotations
• Charge, test, clean, and date adjustment batteries
• Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment
• Accurately maintain warehouse reporting and claims
• Operate a forklift and maintain a current certification
• Properly tag pallets (for transfer, pick, pack, ship)
• General warehousing duties (such as restocking shelves and housekeeping of assigned areas)
• Ability to multi-task and/or quickly transition from one function/task to the next function/task
• Other warehouse duties as assigned by warehouse distributor management

Purpose of Job:

The Warehouse Team Member I has the ability to accurately and efficiently complete assigned distribution center tasks using a variety of equipment including RF barcode scanning devices, material handling equipment - electric and manual pallet jacks, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, WMS applications, and other shipping applications.

Work Environment

• Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbs
• Consistent walking or walking during shift
• Repetitive taping of boxes
• Overtime required as deemed necessary
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
• Exposed to battery warehouse conditions, such as exposure to moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
