Job summary

New Hope NC 1 is seeking an experienced Team Leader to guide the residential milieu, maintain safety, and ensure quality in daily operations. The role focuses on directing staff, implementing treatment plans, and upholding program standards within a supportive, youth-focused environment.

You will oversee shift meetings, monitor incident documentation, coordinate activities, and ensure compliance with licensing and organizational policies while fostering trauma-informed care and collaborative

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or 1-year behavioral healthcare experience.
  • Must meet North Carolina Qualified Professional (QP) requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if transportation is required.
  • Ability to pass background checks and state mandated clearances.

Position Summary

New Hope NC 1, a dynamic company focused on transforming lives through the healing power of relationships, is looking for an experienced Team Leader to join our team. The Team Leader will lead and maintain the residential milieu, ensuring safety and quality in daily operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementation and follow-through of treatment plans.
  • Ensure adherence to treatment plan protocols, especially for special treatment procedures.
  • Attend and oversee shift processing meetings.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the unit as it relates to staff.
  • Report unusual situations on the unit to the Residential Supervisor and Program Directors.
  • Ensure the unit is clean, orderly, and waste is disposed of properly.
  • Lead staff and resident activities on and off the unit.
  • Lead accurate documentation of incident reports.
  • Monitor performance of supervised staff and administer duties as necessary.
Competencies
  • Leadership & Supervision – Ability to lead, coach, and support direct care staff while maintaining accountability and collaboration.
  • Behavior Management – Knowledge of youth behavior management techniques and ability to implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Crisis Intervention – Ability to respond to behavioral crises safely using de‑escalation and approved techniques.
  • Communication – Strong verbal and written skills with staff, youth, and leadership.
  • Documentation & Compliance – Ensures accurate documentation and adherence to organizational policies, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Trauma‑Informed Care – Demonstrates understanding of trauma and applies supportive, youth‑centered approaches.
  • Problem Solving – Makes sound decisions, resolves conflicts, and maintains a safe, structured environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or 1‑year minimum experience in behavioral healthcare.
  • Must meet the requirements of a Qualified Professional (QP) in the state of North Carolina.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if transportation or community coordination is required.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and state‑mandated employment clearances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals in behavioral health, residential treatment, or human services settings.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized records.
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and ethical conduct.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard office technology.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Work performed in a behavioral health treatment environment that may involve exposure to emotionally distressed individuals.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to respond to crisis situations, which may require quick movement.
