Talent Acquisitions Specialist at Hanwha Ocean
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Team Lead –Installation to join our dynamic Global Projects Office (GPO) office. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in the planning, coordinating, and executing of offshore installation of permanent mooring systems for floating offshore structures operating in deep and ultra-Deepwater environments.
This leadership role will support engineering teams globally across Conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCI project phases, specifically for floating platforms such as FPSOs, FLNGs, Semis, and TLPs. The Team Lead will act as a Technical Authority (TA) for installation engineering, guiding the delivery of world-class engineering solutions for permanent mooring systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the installation engineering team for permanent mooring scopes, including anchor installation, mooring line pre-lay, hook-up, and final tensioning.
- Lead development of detailed installation procedures, method statements, risk assessments (HIRA, HAZID, etc) and contingency plans in line with project requirements and marine assurance guidelines.
- Deliver high-quality, technically sound installation engineering solutions for mooring system components throughout all project phases.
- Review and approve project deliverables such as lifting plans, rigging design, load-out procedures, and equipment readiness checklists.
- Interface with clients, vessel contractors, subcontractors, engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure readiness for offshore operations.
- Oversee the planning and execution of offshore campaigns, including tow, anchor handling, anchor installation, connection of mooring components, riser and umbilical pull-in operations.
- Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and operational readiness.
- Support procurement by defining technical requirements for marine spread, anchor handling vessels, anchors, chains, connectors, and tensioning equipment.
- Mentor junior engineers and installation personnel; provide technical oversight and knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical oversight and resource planning across project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for installation engineering, ensuring compliance with international codes and standards (e.g., DNV, ABS, API, ISO).
- Act as the Engineering Project Manager or Discipline Lead for engineering studies and large-scale execution projects as needed.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (EPMs, structural/geotechnical, equipment, hull, and drafting teams) and external clients and contractors/vendors to align technical deliverables with project objectives.
- Review and approve internal documentation, technical specifications, drawings, and calculation reports.
- Support business development efforts with installation engineering expertise during tenders and conceptual/pre-FEED phases.
Technical Expertise & Responsibilities:
- In-depth understanding of permanent mooring systems including:
- Suction piles, driven piles, and vertical load anchors (VLA).
- On-vessel and off-vessel tensioning equipment.
- Chain/wire/polyester rope configurations.
- Mooring line pre-tensioning and integrity assessment.
- Mooring interface with FPSOs, FLNGs, etc.
- Strong familiarity with:
- Offshore installation methods: anchor handling, pile driving, wet storage, hook-up, and tensioning operations.
- Riser and umbilical pull-in operations, including I-tube, J-tube, and porch pull-in systems, winch/tugger operations, and topside interface requirements.
- Engineering tools and analysis: OrcaFlex, Ariane, AutoCAD, and FEA tools for load path validation.
- Marine spread capabilities, equipment layout, and load transfer operations.
- Regulatory and class requirements (DNV, ABS, BV, API RP 2SK/2SM, ISO 19901).
- Knowledge of subsea metrology, mooring tension monitoring, and winch control systems.
- Understanding of dynamic positioning systems and station-keeping operations.
- Represent the company in technical reviews, JIPs, standards committees, and interface meetings with clients and classification societies.
- Develop and maintain Hanwha Ocean’s technical standards and procedures related to installation engineering.
- Remain current with latest industry practices, materials, software tools, and regulatory updates.
- Contribute to lessons learned, post-operational reviews, and continual improvement processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Ocean, Offshore, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the offshore oil & gas industry, ideally including prior experience in leading small engineering or project teams, with at least 5 years of specialized expertise in installation engineering.
- Proven track record with installation engineering, leading permanent mooring system offshore installation campaigns of floating production facilities (FPSO, FLNG, Semi, TLP, etc.).
- Experience in installation engineering during Conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED, or EPCI(O) phases.
- Strong knowledge of relevant installation standards, marine regulations, and offshore construction practices.
- Strong leadership and team mentoring capabilities, with excellent communication skills across disciplines.
- Experience in managing marine operations involving anchor handling vessels, heavy lift operations, and subsea equipment deployment.
- Familiarity with tools such as OrcaFlex, Ariane, AutoCAD, or installation planning software is a plus.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are an asset.
Work Authorization:
The ideal candidate for this role will have authorization to work in the US prior to joining Hanwha. This role will not sponsor or help with the sponsorship for work authorization in the United States.
