Job summary

CoorsTek, Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN is hiring a Team Lead to direct daily production activities on a shift and guide operators to meet quality targets.

You will ensure adherence to work instructions, safety rules, and data recording practices on the plant floor. The ideal candidate has 1 year of relevant manufacturing experience, solid communication, and problem-solving skills to support daily operations and team success.

Responsibilities

• Direct operators per schedule and communicate challenges with solutions.
• Maintain production data (workflow and scrap) in database.
• Provide updates to supervisor on performance and conduct.
• Operate/setup manufacturing equipment to produce acceptable product per work instructions.
• Inspect parts for defects; record results and adjust processes or notify deviation.
• Collaborate with supervisor and planner to determine workflow and schedule.
• Train and coach new employees on work instructions and procedures.
• Monitor and approve time records.
• Gather and implement improvement ideas under supervisor guidance.
• Wear required PPE at all times in designated areas.

Job Title

Team Lead

Responsible for directing day to day activities of workers for a specific shift or area and for the production of acceptable product. Leads and encourages a team environment to meet departmental goals and objectives. Maintains work area cleanliness. (No people management responsibilities (e.g. performance management and reviews, hiring, etc.).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Direct work of operators following production schedule; communicate production challenges and offer solutions to department supervisor
• Maintain production data (workflow and scrap) in appropriate computer database
• Provide continual updates to department supervisor on employee performance and conduct issues
• Operate and/or setup a variety of manufacturing equipment in assigned area to produce acceptable product per work instructions
• Inspect parts for defects as part of in-process inspection; record results, adjust process/machine or notify appropriate person of deviation when needed
• Partner with department supervisor and production planner to determine work flow and schedule
• Train and coach incoming employees on department work instructions, processes, procedures and policies
• Monitor, review and approve employee time records in a consistent and timely manner
• Gather improvement ideas, assist with implementation and maintain as directed by department supervisor
• Wears required personal protective equipment at all times in areas where mandatory

Job Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

• One (1) year relevant experience

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to provide and receive verbal and written instructions
• Intermediate math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions) and computer skills
• Demonstrated leadership and coaching/mentoring ability
• Ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner
• Ability to problem solve and collaborate cross functionally when issues arise
• Intermediate knowledge of production processes and equipment within assigned area
• Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds

Target Hiring Range

USD 23.00 - USD 29.00
