Job summary

Glade Run Academy seeks a Teaching Assistant for a ten-month role following the school calendar in Utica, PA. The position supports classroom management, student supervision, and therapeutically grounded interactions within a Sanctuary-model framework.

The role requires a relevant degree or equivalent experience, willingness to undergo Crisis/Physical Intervention training, and readiness to meet PA clearance requirements. Competitive benefits and a supportive work culture are offered.

  • Bachelor's or Associate in human services, psychology, or education; or HS diploma with relevant experience.
  • Able to supervise clients with audio/visual/verbal skills.
  • Must complete Crisis/Physical Intervention training.
  • Must be at least 21 to transport students.
  • Must have PA clearances (State Police, Child Abuse, FBI).

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher with classroom management.
  • Complete required paperwork promptly.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with students and staff.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with students.
  • Attend required trainings and meet with Supervisor.
  • Practice PBIS and Sanctuary models of intervention.
  • In collaboration with the classroom teacher, conduct a Strengths-Needs-Cultural-Discovery on every student.

Glade Run Academy is an educational option for students in grades K through 12 who require specialized educational programs due to behavioral health, academic and developmental concerns. Our philosophy is that every interaction with a child is an opportunity to help them learn, grow and heal. The Teaching Assistant is a 10-Month position following the school calendar.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in human service, psychology, or education field; OR a High School diploma with experience working with children, adolescents or adults required, preferably in an education, mental health or social service setting.
  • Must have audio/visual/verbal skills to provide supervision for clients and to perform essential job functions.
  • Must have physical dexterity in order to assist in client physical interventions if necessary.
  • Must complete and pass agency Crisis/Physical Intervention training.
  • Must have the ability to continually exercise discretion and judgment in performing job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to adjust hours to job requirements.
  • Must have access to a telephone.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least age 21 due to need to transport students/clients.
  • Must be eligible for PA State Police Clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, FBI clearance and Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form.
What You’ll Do:
  • Assistteacher with classroom management.

  • In collaboration with the classroom teacher, conducta Strengths-Needs-Cultural-Discovery (SNCD) on every student.
