Job summary

Laurel Concord Coleridge School is seeking a Substitute Teacher to join our district in Laurel, Nebraska. This on-call position supports daily coverage, ensuring a positive learning environment and continuity of instruction when regular teachers are unavailable.

Responsibilities include delivering prepared lessons, supervising students, and following district policies. Immediate starting date and reliable attendance are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• NDE Teacher Certification or Substitute Certification.
• NDE Local Substitute Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of the students.
• Implement effective lessons in the absence of the regular Instructor.
• Ensure that district policies are observed during all activities.
• Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
• Keep all children in the classroom under supervision at all times.
• Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures. Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality as defined by FERPA.
• Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances and exhibit good judgment and professional conduct.
• Report for duty 30 minutes early and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher.
• Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Leave detailed notes for the teacher on any issues encountered.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Central Office.

NDE Teacher Certification; or NDE Substitute Teacher Certification; or

REPORTS TO: Building Principal; Superintendent

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Daily/On-Call services for the current school year

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Leave detailed notes for teacher on any issues experienced during the day.
