  • Provide direct specialized instruction, inclusion support, curriculum modifications, and accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Develop appropriate IEPs in conjunction with Team.
  • Provide consultation to general education staff in the content areas associated with assigned students and ensure that accommodations are being met.
  • Facilitate all aspects of student's annual review and interim progress meetings.
  • Complete academic testing for initial and re-evaluations.
  • Oversee support of Paraprofessional staff.
  • Assist with the transition process.
  • Other duties as requested by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Student Services, and/or their Designee.

Job Description

North ReadingHigh Schoolis seekinga Special Education Teacher to join our team. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

The vision for this position in year2 (2027-2028) includes oversight of a targeted smaller caseload, while providing specialized instruction in functional academics and life skills. This will include supporting inclusion opportunitiesas appropriate.

Pay and paid time off will be prorated to start date.

Essential duties

  • Provide direct specialized instruction, inclusion support, curriculum modifications, and accommodations for students with disabilities
  • Develop appropriate IEPs in conjunction with Team
  • Provide consultation to general education staff in the content areas associated with assigned students and ensure that accommodations are being met
  • Facilitate all aspects of student's annual review and interim progress meetings
  • Complete academic testing for initial and re-evaluations
  • Oversee support of Paraprofessional staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Moderate Disabilities, grades 5-12
  • Working knowledge of evaluation and IEP development
  • Experience administering, scoring, and interpretingdiagnostics assessments including WIAT, TOWL, and KeyMath preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
