Summary

This position is part of the Tohono O’Odham High School, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Teacher (Physical Education), you will serve as a classroom teacher in a BIE school on or near the Reservation. The instruction will typically focus on specialized subjects in a middle or high school setting.

Duties

As a Teacher (Physical Education) CY-1710-11, your typical responsibilities may include:

1. Preparing yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans that cover relevant units and specify objectives, activities, and evaluation methods for both group and individual instruction.
2. Teaching students by selecting, developing, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques using available resources to promote academic achievement.
3. Evaluating student progress continuously through tests, standardized assessments, oral exams, and other relevant methods.
4. Creating an environment that fosters rapport, inter-relationships, self-discipline, and positive self-image among students.
5. Maintaining control of the classroom and handling discipline independently, except for chronic or severe behavior issues.
6. Supervising students throughout the school day and activities to ensure their safety, health, and welfare in compliance with guidelines.
