Job summary

Tucson Unified School District's Mansfeld Middle Magnet School is seeking an ELD teacher to manage the learning environment, develop lesson plans, instruct students, and monitor progress to raise achievement. The role requires Arizona teaching certificates in Middle Grades Language Arts or English, plus SEI or ESL endorsements, and a current fingerprint clearance.

The position is 0.6 to 4.5 hours per day (9.5-month calendar).

Qualifications

• Arizona Elementary/Middle/Secondary certificates in Middle Grades Language Arts or English Approved Area are required.
• Arizona SEI Endorsement or Spanish-Bilingual or ESL Endorsement required.
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Preferred: Demonstrated success engaging African American and Latino students.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team to plan instruction and ensure ADE compliance.
• Possibly administer AZELLA testing and other ADE requirements.

Job description

Summary

Effectively manage the learning environment to prepare lesson plans, instruct students, evaluate and monitor students’ performance in order to advance student achievement. Understand and appreciate diversity. Work collaboratively with a team to plan instruction. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning. ELD teacher duties may also include AZELLA testing and other ADE compliance requirements for English Learners and other PHLOTE students.

Minimum Requirements

• Arizona Elementary Certificate with Middle Grades Language Arts OR English Approved Area
• Arizona Middle Grades Certificate with Middle Grades Language Arts OR English Approved Area
• Arizona Secondary Certificate with Middle Grades Language Arts OR English Approved Area
• Arizona Subject Matter Expert Certificate 6-12 with English Approved Area
• AND Arizona SEI (Structured English Immersion) Endorsement OR Spanish-Bilingual Endorsement OR ESL Endorsement

• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Requirements Prior to Start Date

• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Preferred Requirements

LOCATION: Mansfeld Middle Magnet School - 6th Street & Mountain Area

FTE: 0.6 - 4.5 hours per day

Work Calendar: 9.5 months

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
