Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking an ELD teacher to manage instructional time, develop lesson plans, and monitor student progress for English learners in a diverse environment.

Requires multiple Arizona teaching certificates with language arts focus and SEI/ESL endorsements, plus an active IVP fingerprint clearance card. This position may include AZELLA testing duties and ADE compliance tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Arizona Elementary Certificate with Middle Grades Language Arts OR English Approved Area
• Arizona Middle Grades Certificate with Middle Grades Language Arts OR English Approved Area
• Arizona Secondary Certificate with Middle Grades Language Arts OR English Approved Area
• Arizona Subject Matter Expert Certificate 6-12 with English Approved Area
• Arizona SEI (Structured English Immersion) Endorsement OR Spanish-Bilingual Endorsement OR ESL Endorsement
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE

• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
• Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement

COMMENTS

Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

LOCATION: Roskruge K8 - 6th Street & Euclid Areas

FTE : 1.0 -7.5 hours per day

Work Calendar:9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.

Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications, Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less, and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
