CONTRACT/SALARY: 182/179 days; Teacher Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible members of society.

Qualifications/Education:

• Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate — Elementary Education K-12
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with personnel, students, and patrons in individual and group settings.
• Knowledge of informal and formal assessment procedures and curriculum standards

Job Responsibilities:

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the resources provided by the district.
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superiors.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintain order fairly and justly.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, communicating these objectives to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Strive to implement the district's educational philosophy, curriculum, instructional goals, and objectives through instruction and action.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
• Uphold and enforce school rules, regulations, and policies.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours when necessary.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Collaborate with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assist in selecting instructional materials and resources.
• Participate in co-curricular activities as assigned.
• Maintain communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through reading, workshops, seminars, and courses.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
