Saint Bernadette Catholic School in Silver Spring, Maryland, is hiring a Full-time Kindergarten Teacher for the 2025-26 school year.

This position reports to the principal, with a salary range of $45,000-$77,000.

The Catholic elementary school teacher is responsible for delivering instruction based on the approved curricula and mission of the school, creating a safe, orderly, and Catholic learning environment.

The Teacher Shall
Planning
  • Create lesson plans aligned with the Archdiocese of Washington Standards.
  • Use assessment data to adjust instruction and meet diverse student needs.
  • Design learner-centered lessons addressing all students' needs.
Instruction
  • Deliver balanced instruction incorporating various teaching methods.
  • Assess student progress and differentiate instruction accordingly.
  • Assign supportive classwork and homework.
Classroom Management
  • Establish effective procedures and rules fostering a positive environment.
  • Maintain high expectations and uphold Catholic values.
Communication
  • Maintain accurate grade records and communicate with parents and administration.
  • Provide clear instructions and updates via the school's portal and direct communication.
  • Conduct parent conferences and produce progress reports.
Catholic Identity
  • Support Catholic beliefs, traditions, and social justice teachings.
  • Assist in liturgical planning and lead prayer activities.
  • Teach religion aligned with ADW standards and participate in church ceremonies.
Non-Instructional Duties
  • Perform duties such as recess, lunch, and substitute teaching as required.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development.
  • Obtain necessary certifications within three years of hire.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current teacher certification in MD, VA, or DC (or within 3 years of hire)
  • Knowledge of child development and supervision
  • Experience in elementary education preferred

Note: Duties may be expanded or modified at the discretion of the principal.
