Salary Range: $15.00 – $15.00 Hourly

Position Summary

The Teacher‑Floater position at the South Shore YMCA Early Learning Centers is a part‑time position requiring a Monday through Friday schedule.

Reports to: Director Early Learning Center

Responsibilities include planning, execution, and overall operation of a high‑quality Early Learning classroom. You will promote YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning, provide community leadership for family/child development, collaborate with staff, demonstrate high‑quality member service to program participants, families, members, and volunteers, and ensure member involvement, service and retention.

Supervise program participants, teacher assistants, and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws and NAEYC criteria. Plans, assigns, and directs staff and volunteer work. Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC, NAEYC, and South Shore YMCA requirements.

Build relationships with families and members, respond to inquiries, solve problems, create a supportive community environment, assist in recruiting and engaging new families, and connect families to the YMCA’s cause.

Qualifications

• Completion or in process of attaining a Bachelor’s degree from a community college or university in Early Education, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum of teacher qualifications from the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
• Knowledge and experience with the Department of Early Education and Care regulations, QRIS Standards, and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
• The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies.
• Effective teaching skills, the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity.
