Job summary

South Shore YMCA is seeking a part-time Teacher-Floater at the Hanover Early Learning Center in Hanover, MA. The role supports planning and execution of a high-quality early learning classroom, emphasizing YMCA values and family engagement, with supervision of staff and volunteers.

The position reports to the Director Early Learning Center and requires collaboration with families, members, and community partners to ensure excellent service and program quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Education or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of teacher qualifications from the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
• Knowledge of EEC regulations, QRIS Standards and NAEYC.
• Ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and oversee a high-quality Early Learning classroom.
• Promote YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning.
• Provide community leadership for family/child development and collaborations; deliver high-quality member service.
• Directly supervise program participants, teacher assistants and volunteers; plan, assign and direct staff and volunteer work.
• Monitor and communicate all staff-related EEC, NAEYC, and South Shore YMCA requirements with supervisor.
• Build relationships with families and members, respond to inquiries and solve problems; recruit and engage new families.
• Connect families to the YMCA’s cause.

Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly

The Teacher-Floater position at the South Shore YMCA Early Learning Centers Is a part-time position requiring a Monday through Friday schedule.

Reports to: Director Early Learning Center

This position is responsible for the planning, execution and overall operation of a high-quality Early Learning classroom which will include promoting YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning. This position is responsible for providing community leadership for family/child development, leadership collaborations and be able to demonstrate high quality member service to both internal and external program participants, families, members, and volunteers to ensure member involvement, service and retention.

Directly supervises program participants, teacher assistants and volunteers in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws and NAEYC criteria. Plans, assigns, and directs staff and volunteer work. Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC, NAEYC, and South Shore YMCA requirements.

Builds relationships with and among families and members, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new families, and connects families to the YMCA’s cause.

Qualifications

• Completion or in process of attaining a Bachelor’s degree from a community college or university in Early Education, or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of teacher qualifications from the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC)
• Knowledge and experience with the Department of Early Education and Care regulations, QRIS Standards and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
• The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position.
• Effective teaching skills, the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity.
