Job summary

Legacy Early College seeks a dynamic Multilingual Learner educator to co-teach core content with English learners. The role includes direct instruction, hands-on activities, and leading small groups and one-on-one sessions to support language acquisition.

The ideal candidate holds SC teaching certification and ESOL credentials, with 2+ years of lead teaching in underserved communities and experience with MLs. The school offers a 195-day calendar and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement instructional lessons based on scholars’ proficiency using WIDA ELD and SC standards.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to scholars, ML Program Coordinator, teachers, principal, and guardians.
  • Analyze scholar progress to identify areas for improvement.
  • Administer WIDA ACCESS for ELLs, SC EOC/READY, benchmarks, and other assessments.
  • Develop ILAPs for each ML scholar.
  • Conduct regular progress monitoring.
  • Maintain program documentation.

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2009, with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college-driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day, and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated into the culture and curriculum.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College is looking for a dynamic Multilingual Learner (ML) educator who has experience working with limited English proficient scholars. The ML Teacher will co-teacher core content classes, provide direct instruction, create and facilitate hands-on activities, and lead small groups and one-on-one instruction.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement instructional lessons based upon scholars’ proficiency levels using WIDA English Language Development (ELD) and SC content standards
  • Provide ongoing feedback to scholars, the Multilingual Learner Program Coordinator, teachers, the principal, and parent/guardian
  • Analyze scholar progress to identify areas for improvement
  • Administer WIDA ACCESS for ELLs, SC EOC/READY, benchmark, and other assessments
  • Develop meaningful Individualized Language Acquisition Plans (ILAPs) for each ML scholar
  • Conduct regular progress monitoring
  • Maintain program documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
  • South Carolina teaching certification in grade level band served, required
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) certification/endorsement, preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of successful lead teaching experience in an underserved community, preferred
  • Experience working with MLs, preferred
Work Schedule

Teachers will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, on the 195-day (10-month school year) schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
