Job summary

The Newark Board of Education seeks a Teacher Coach to join a new team focused on teaching and inspiring students through public policy and wellness perspectives. You will support the whole child by influencing curriculum design and creating space for student leadership, activism, and social justice.

As a key member, you will collaborate with administrators, teachers, and staff to implement coaching strategies, professional development, and high-leverage actions that advance district priorities

Qualifications

• NJ DOE Standard Certificate required.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Disabilities eligible if reasonable accommodation is provided.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students.
• Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communications skills and other general elements of the course of study.
• Provides individual, small, and large group instruction to adapt the curriculum.
• Manages textbooks, materials, equipment and inventory records.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for an orderly environment.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time for a balanced program.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service and growth activities.
• Supervises activities for pupils during the working day and coordinates aides/paraprofessionals.
• Communicates with parents and pupil personnel staff on pupil progress.
• Promotes instructional priorities and facilitates professional learning communities.
• Works with principals to develop coaching plans and monitor progress toward goals.
