Job summary

Michelle Obama Elementary School in Newark is seeking a Teacher of Elementary to join a new team committed to high expectations, inclusive practices, and engaging learning through interdisciplinary activities aligned with public policy and wellness.

As a member of Newark Board of Education, you will contribute to curriculum design, support the whole child, communicate with families, and collaborate with colleagues to promote student growth and social justice.

Qualifications

• NJDOE Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS as required by the NJ Department of Education.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred unless specified otherwise by NJDOE.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study meeting students' needs, interests and abilities.
• Evaluates student progress and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communications, and general course elements as required by regulations.
• Provides individualized and group instruction to adapt curriculum for varied learners.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior for a productive environment.
• Coordinates work of aides and paraprofessionals as needed.
• Communicates with parents and pupil personnel staff on progress and development.
• Performs other duties assigned by Supervisor.
