Job description

Go Kids is hiring a part-time Teacher Assistant for its Galarza facility. The position offers $21.50 per hour and is non-exempt. Hours are from 2-6 pm, with a maximum of 12:30-6 pm on certain days.

The Teacher Assistant will support the Teacher and Master Teacher in supervising, developing, and educating children within their assigned classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

1. Establishing a respectful climate that recognizes each child's individuality, culture, language, family structure, developmental needs, and behaviors.
2. Interacting positively with children to encourage their learning and development.
3. Supporting children’s social-emotional growth and problem-solving skills.
4. Modeling pro-social behaviors and teaching children responsibility and respect for others.
5. Supporting play and learning by providing assistance and resources, and creating safe opportunities for exploration.
6. Building positive relationships with children’s parents and caregivers.
7. Maintaining and replenishing classroom materials and preparing healthy snacks as needed.
8. Providing services in accordance with NAEYC standards and complying with relevant licensing regulations.
9. Maintaining confidentiality of children, families, and staff.
10. Supporting the Teacher, Master Teacher, and Site Supervisor/Regional Director.

Health and Safety

1. Reporting hazards and injuries immediately.
2. Ensuring safety rules are followed by children.
3. Keeping the environment clean and safe.
4. Following health standards for food handling, toileting, hand washing, and universal precautions.
5. Monitoring children for signs of illness and directing them to medical care as needed.

• Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification from an approved provider.
• Good health verified by a recent health screening, including a tuberculosis test within the past year.
• Valid California driver’s license.
