Job summary

Marshall Public Schools in Marshall, MI seeks an assistant teacher to support preschool classrooms, help the Lead Teacher implement positive child management, and assist in ensuring that program performance standards are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate degree in early childhood, preschool education or child development or CDA certification preferred
• Previous experience in preschool or early childhood program
• CPR / First Aid Certification
• Strong communication and instructional skills
• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Flexible hours for center coverage and family involvement
• Demonstrate understanding of district mission and values

NATURE OF POSITION

This individual will support the pre-school classrooms, assisting the Lead Teacher with implementing positive child management in the classroom and assist in assuring that program performance standards are met. The employee may also provide wrap around care with the after school program, modeling and guiding appropriate childcare practices within the center.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education:
• • Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GES)
  • Associates Degree in early childhood, preschool education or child development or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, preferred
• Previous experience in preschool or early childhood program
• Strong communication and instructional skills
• CPR / First Aid Certification
• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Maintain a genuine interest in helping children in their educational and developmental process
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed for center coverage and/or for family involvement activities including conferences, open house, family nights, etc.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the district's mission, vision and strategic priorities and actively works to advance them through daily practice and professional conduct
• Contributes to the culture and climate of the district by modeling its core values, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment and serving as a committed representative of the district's identity and purpose in all interactions with students, families, staff and the broader community
