Works under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher to carry out assigned tasks and duties. These include, but are not limited to, personal care, instruction, teaching, guiding proper behavior, behavior management, hygiene, overall well-being, social-emotional, academic, and other developmental activities of children in their care. Responsibilities also encompass preparation for and implementation of activities, maintaining cleanliness, decorations, safety of the classroom, and ongoing communication with children and parents. Ensures compliance with Virginia State Licensing regulations. Works within the Mission, Vision, Philosophy, Purpose, and Goals of the Riverside Child Development & Learning Center and Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Must be at least 18 years of age. CDA or other certificate in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Experience: At least 6 months of Early Childhood / Child Care experience required. Ability to create and prepare developmentally appropriate activities for the assigned age group. Must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher. Must be able to use effective, age-appropriate, and constructive discipline techniques with children as required.
