Job description

Bright Light Academy is seeking an experienced assistant teacher to join our toddlers' teaching teams. The ideal candidates will have at least two years experience working with young children, preferably under four years old, be a team player & have a passion for early learning. Candidates MUST qualify as an Assistant Group Supervisor with DHS to be considered. CDA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other teachers to plan & implement daily lesson plans & activities.
  • Help create a safe & stimulating classroom environment for the children in your care.
  • Monitor & engage with children during playtime, meals, personal hygiene & other daily routines.
  • Provide individual & group support to children as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development & progress.
  • Complete child assessments & participate in parent/teacher conferences.

Qualifications:
  • Two+ years experience working with young children, preferably with children ages one to three.
  • Must qualify as an Assistant Group Supervisor or Group Supervisor with DHS.
  • Pass state, federal & child abuse background checks.
  • Be able to pass a drug test.
  • Be 18 years or older & able to work in the United States.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Be able to lift up to 40lbs, see, hear & sit on the floor with children.
  • Must be patient, nurturing & able to create a positive learning environment.
  • A CDA or higher in Early Childhood Education, Children & Families or Child Development are preferred.

Position Overview:
  • There is room for growth in this role with funding from the state to further staff's education in the early learning field.
  • This is a full-time, year-round position.
  • Pay range starts at $17-$18 per hour ($33,500 - $35,500 annually), relative to experience & education (higher for degreed teacher), with an additional pay increase based on performance & education at the end of a 90 day probation period.
  • Full-time staff also receive paid holidays, PTO, sick-time, dental & vision insurance, reduced child care & more.
  • Full-time staff work a four-day work week.
