Summary

Assistant Afternoon Teacher

Part‑time, in‑person; $17–$19 per hour.

Schedule: Mon – Fri 11:30 am – 5:00 pm

Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate, patient, and energetic assistant teacher to join our afternoon team. You will partner closely with lead teachers to create a safe, stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to grow.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, sequencing, and execution of process‑based activities aligned with our play‑based philosophy
• Assist with day‑to‑day classroom operations and transitions
• Engage intentionally with children to encourage age‑appropriate cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
• Remain flexible and responsive to children’s interests, allowing for depth of engagement
• Communicate warmly and effectively with children, families, and colleagues
• Collaborate with lead teachers on lesson planning and shared materials
• Attend monthly staff meetings and fulfill annual continuing education requirements
• Model kindness, patience, and good citizenship every day

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in early childhood education
• Minimum three years of experience working with preschool‑age children
• Familiarity with child‑centered educational philosophies (Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Piaget)
• Genuine empathy and respect for children, families, and colleagues
