The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf (ENCSD) serves the 54 easternmost counties, providing a specialized learning environment for deaf and hard of hearing students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school offers standards-based instruction, low classroom ratios, career and vocational skills development, current technology, and an accessible environment through American Sign Language. A boarding program is available for students outside Wilson County. ENCSD aims to promote both intentional and experiential learning to advance students' academic achievement and social/emotional well-being.
This role involves providing paraprofessional instructional activities with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, focusing on areas such as linguistic development, motor skills, self-help, social-emotional, pre-vocational, pre-academic, academic, health, hygienic, cognitive, and behavioral support, working directly with and under the supervision of the classroom teacher and principal.
