Job summary

LearnWell in New Jersey seeks a passionate teacher to support child and adolescent patients in behavioral health facilities. This full-time role covers 20 or 40 hours per week, with classes of 8–15 students in small classrooms, Monday–Friday mornings or afternoons.

Travel between Newark, Jersey City, and Hoboken is required as part of the position. The role emphasizes planning daily lessons, providing individualized help, and tracking student progress, with strong focus on attendance and session

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution is required.
• NJ State standard teaching license required.
• Comfortable working with K-12 students and adapting to behavioral health settings.
• Strong organizational skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily lesson plans for students in a behavioral health setting.
• Provide individualized assistance to students to support academic progress.
• Regularly communicate student progress to caregivers and team members.
• Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to maximize student success and maintain attendance/session reports.

Job description

For more than 26 years, we have provided on-site educational services in hospitals, helping these school-age patients continue their education during treatment and reintegrate successfully into the classroom. With a network of over 200 educators, we strive to make a positive impact for generations to come.

Currently, we are seeking a passionate and creative teacher to join our team in New Jersey on a full-time basis for the school year. This unique position will involve working in fast-paced behavioral health facilities, providing academic support to child and adolescent school-age patients in a small classroom setting as they receive treatment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to plan and deliver daily lesson plans, provide individualized assistance to students, and regularly communicate about student progress as needed. Additionally, you will monitor and adjust teaching strategies to ensure student success and maintain accurate attendance and session reports. Most of our class sizes range from 8 to 15 school-age patients at any one time.

Position entails either a 20 or 40-hour a week commitment, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-12:30pm or 7:30-4:00pm based on candidate preference. This position requires travel between Newark, Jersey City, and Hoboken. We offer a very generous package of paid time off including vacation time, sick time, federal holidays, and paid school breaks.
