Texas Department Of Criminal Justice seeks a Sergeant of Correctional Officers - Correctional Training Instructor to supervise entry-level training and deliver mobile, on-site instruction at units across the state. You will travel to facilities and teach defensive tactics, searches, inmate supervision, and emergency response to security and non-security personnel.

• Job Duties: This position performs entry-level correctional supervisory and instructional work that supports mobile, on-site correctional training delivered at units across the state. Key responsibilities include traveling to assigned facilities and instructing security and non-security trainees and employees in defensive tactics, searches, inmate supervision, emergency response, and chemical agent delivery systems. The role requires supporting Correctional Professional Development Program phases at both unit and academy sites, coordinating training logistics, evaluating participant performance, administering examinations, and ensuring participants meet agency training standards. Additional duties involve developing and revising lesson plans, instructional methods, and training aids; observing program implementation at field sites; maintaining training equipment and records; and certifying staff in required skills. This position ensures field staff receive consistent, hands-on instruction that meets agency standards wherever training is needed statewide.

  • Willing and able to complete all required instructor certification courses within 6 months of hire
