Job summary

One Mission Society is seeking a Part-time Third Culture Kid Member Care Specialist to support missionary families across emotional, developmental, and spiritual needs. The role emphasizes consistent, relational care through life stages, including transitions and reentry.

It requires strong cross-cultural skills and experience with children in international settings. The position is hybrid, based near OMS Headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, or in Asia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, education, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• TCK-specific training or coursework encouraged.
• Cross-cultural care coursework may be on-the-job.
• Experience with children/adolescents in multicultural or international settings.
• Familiarity with missionary life is preferred.
• Counseling, pastoral care, or member care experience is an asset.
• Commitment to OMS mission, values, and faith statement.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive, ongoing care for TCKs and families through regular communication and relational presence.
• Collaborate with OMS offices to provide responsive support and care.
• Cultivate relationships with TCKs from childhood through young adulthood and offer encouragement.
• Support TCK transitions—pre-field, field adjustment, homeland transition, and re-entry.
• Facilitate age-appropriate debriefing sessions for children and youth during transitions.
• Recognize emotional or developmental concerns and provide referrals as needed.
• Provide grief and crisis support and connect to professional services when needed.
• Guide parents on development, emotion, and relational needs within cross-cultural contexts.
