Job summary

State of North Carolina Department of Revenue seeks a Customer Service Agent to guide taxpayers, support compliance, and provide accurate assistance by phone. Training is provided with a staged hybrid-to-remote path, starting onsite, transitioning to hybrid, then almost fully remote with monthly office days.

Starting salary is $40,421, with a 5% premium for Spanish fluency and a 5% raise after training completion.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to guide taxpayers with clarity and accuracy.
• Willingness to complete a comprehensive training program.

Responsibilities

• Professionally manage a high volume of incoming calls.
• Provide clear and accurate guidance to taxpayers on refunds, plans, notices, balances, and laws.
• Complete the training program to confidently interpret personal income and sales/use tax laws.
